Tamariki Focused Play-Based Curriculum

We strongly advocate for play-based learning.  We concentrate on providing an irresistible invitation to play as a provocation for tamariki to develop a passion for lifelong learning.  There is well-researched scientific evidence that proves this is the best way for tamariki of this age to learn and have the best outcomes throughout their lives.

Valued Whanau (Family) Involvement

Kaiako place a high importance on making Whanau feel welcomed at our Centre.  This helps Tamariki transition between home and Centre to be as smooth and comfortable as possible.  Whanau are welcome to pop in and spend time with their Tamariki at the Centre at anytime.  Our Local Curriculum also creates many opportunities throughout the year to celebrate this, including Grandparents Day, Positive Male Role Model Month, Matariki Evening and our Family Christmas Party.  Kaiako actively seek to find out Whanau aspirations for their Tamariki care and education while at our Centre.

Whanau are kept regularly informed about their tamariki Learning and what is happening at our Centre through our weekly enewsletters and Tamariki learning journeys which are accessible at all times to Whanau through their phones or computers through Educa.

Excursions Into the Community

Active Kids Early Childcare Centre has its own van to take Tamariki on lots of adventures within our local community.  This includes weekly swimming lessons for our Preschool Tamariki, trips to bike parks, Te Puna Quarry, Cedar Manor Rest Home monthly visits and regular trips to Centre Owner’s Lisa and Lindsay’s farm.

Excursions are not just limited to our Preschool Tamariki, our Toddler Tamariki are also able to get out and about on the trips mentioned above and others that will extend on their interests.

Our Preschool Tamariki also enjoy their weekly class at The Gym Tauranga, in the Group Fitness Room (downstairs from Active Kids Early Childcare Centre) where they participate in active movement activities, including obstacle courses. Sessions are created specifically to help Tamariki build a passion for movement and develop foundation movements.
